At 3:17PM today, my sister Dianne lost her husband Fred Clarke who passed away at the EMMC. Fred has spent most of his time in law enforcement, retiring from the Penobscot Sheriffs Dept, following a long career in the Bangor Police Dept. Reaching the position of assistant chief in that department under Francis Woodhead. Fred was one of the funniest guys youd ever want to be around. He was a natural fun guy, and always was a big entertainer amongst the crowd. A real likeable guy, and one who was always a non-sense in his duty as a police officer. Fred always called a spade a spade. He and my sister attended Don Winslows funeral on Thursday, went home, and Fred had a serious problem hit him. He has suffered for several years with cancer, and was always a come-back guy.Beat it each and every-time it would come back over the last 8-10 years. I had the pleasure of spending a week with them at their winter home in Florida in January.Fred was always a bundle of joy..in no small way.
