At AU meeting: African leaders praise Prez. Sirleaf mylbsonline/Liberia/Mar. 3, 2014)-The African Union (AU) Commission Chairperson, Dlamini-Zuma, has lauded the ten heads of States and their countries for drafting the AU Post-2015 Development Agenda. Dr. Zuma said: “Africa must create an enabling environment for economic transformation, poverty eradication and infrastructural development.” The AU Chairperson hoped: “As the continent enters into a global negotiation on its Common Position, there will be greater unity for success.” Dr. Zuma made the remarks over the weekend in the Chadian Capital, N’djamena. The AU Boss Spoke when he chaired the assembly of the Heads of State Committee of the African Authority on the African Common Position in that city. Mrs. Zuma, at the assembly, present a comprehensive report to the AU through her office. According to her, a new pillar on peace and security is critical to the African Continent, usually engulfed by internal conflicts. At the same time, Dr. Zuma has praised Liberia’s President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, for ensuring a well coordinated document that truly reflects the world Africans want to live in. Chadian President, Idriss Deby and the Chairperson of the Authority of the AU Assembly, Mohammed Ould Abdel Aziz, also addressed the N’djamena gathering. In separate addresses, Messrs. Deby and Abdel Aziz commended President Johnson-Sirleaf for her strong leadership role being demonstrated. Mr. Aziz is also President of the Republic of Mauritanian. By Nathan Charles
