At Maranda High School, I stayed in Mboya dormitory for the four years. One day at lunch time, as I was walking into our dormitory, I noticed a young, naive form one student crying and looking hopeless... Got to him, said hi then asked what the problem. He told me he was being harassed by the bed father for reasons I will not discuss with you any day ;-). I took this form one made him sleep on my bed as I slept on the upper decker. we became friends, good friends... Otieno Arnold was a bright student who found it a bit hard coping with the harsh conditions at Maranda. He fell sick many times, missed classes almost half the term, slept at all prep times, did not like the food prepared at school, was asthmatic, ever homesick. But I knew the boy had more potential he could exploit. His performance was poor at some point. We talked about it, we walked through together. When I cleared high school, got my grade, I would still go to visit him. He promised to beat my record which he did, and now is pursuing a bachelors degree in Law at Kenyatta University. Small bro, The future belongs only to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.. Keep on keeping on..
