Accountant or Associate Accountant #67159 Puget Sound Energy’s Property Accounting Department is looking for an Accountant or Associate Accountant, depending on qualifications, to join our team. Under general direction these roles will perform moderately complex accounting and analysis functions. There will be opportunities to participate in daily and monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. We need someone who can ensure SOX procedures and controls are being complied with and working according to documentation. The ideal candidates will be able to provide excellent customer satisfaction and contribute to continual improvement of processes. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform moderately complex accounting and analysis functions • Prepare, evaluate and maintain data • Evaluate and implement changes related to regulatory and GAAP compliance • Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts • Participate in the maintenance of the general ledger and/or other automated systems and databases • Review the work of other accountants • Prepare and review internal, external, and regulatory financial reports • Respond to requests received from management and other departments and represent the department at company meetings • Lead or participate on special projects/research within the department • Comply with internal controls and actively update and test SOX 404 procedures • May act as a subject matter expert MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting and/or 2+ years of relevant experience • Good accounting skills • Good verbal and written skills • Strong PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access) DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Leadership, mentorship, and coaching skills • Experience with SAP and fixed asset accounting systems • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation or candidate, with extensive accounting experience considered in lieu of certification • Advanced Degree • Willingness to participate in job rotation • Strong aptitude and desire to advance to supervisory/management position This opening will be filled as an Accountant or Associate Accountant depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
