At Tempus we are big believers in the basic compound lifts for sport specific strength, specifically squat and deadlift. However, these are advanced lifts and you need to prep the body to handle those loads. A superset we like to use to prep young athletes for bigger lifts is the Glute Ham Raise and Bodysaw. We even use this as an accessory movement for all our athletes as its an old powerlifters method to boost your squat. Dondrae and Mahoney of the Toronto Mets Baseball Club demonstrate the 2 exercises.
