Buturff confuses “reference frequency” with “tone scale” calling them both “tuning”. If he didnt, he would have known that any commercial (guitar) tuner is equal tempered. Tibetan Singing Bowls have each their own frequency, which is part of no particular scale, and by collecting “the right ones” you can turn them into the tones of your desired scale. With a little bit of luck you can find bowls that closely match the 12-tone equal tempered scale, or any other scale for that matter, including a made-up chakra scale. This is exactly what Ben Scott has been doing: collecting all types of Tibetan bowls, but without grouping them - at least until he met Christa Michell.
