At a time when political parties are more divided than ever I think there is something we can all agree on (except maybe that 1% of the population that holds the majority of the money) ~ were broke! Both in our governmental pocket books and our personal pocket books. America has been living on the, buy now, pay later, mentality. Later has arrived. Fortunately, my grandma lived with us as I was growing up and imparted all those Depression era ideas to me; waste not want not; take care of what you have, utilize everything to its fullest and then some ~ I listened. Instead of shopping at Wal-Mart to save a few $ so you can buy your not-so-small indulgence at Star Bucks, boycott the mega-corps. The most effective voting is done with our wallets. Against GMOs? Grow your own veggies, raise your own chickens and buy a side of beef from the local farmer. There is no need to support another big company that promotes their organic produce. Cant give up your name brand gym shoes ( thats what we called them back in the day when we paid $1.99 for them), garage and estate sales are great ~ same with clothes, furniture ~ just about everything. Living off the grid and protesting big money doesnt have to involve guns and buried bunkers. It can be subtle and help prepare you for the coming financial storms.
