At approximately 2 AM on Saturday, May 10, the Tishomingo County Sheriffs Office received a call concerning a missing boater near McDougal Branch Boat Ramp on Bay Springs Lake. Deputies, along with several volunteers from various fire departments responded to the location and immediately began searching the water and shoreline near the ramp. Additional assistance was requested for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks the US Army Corps of Engineers. We are now in day four of that search. Our officers, along with officers from the MDWFP, and rangers with US Army Corp of Engineers continue to scour Bay Springs Lake for any sign of this young man. Many rumors have been circulating as to the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. At this time, we would like to ask everyone to put those aside and allow us to concentrate on locating this young man and provide closure to the family. Boaters who will be visiting Bay Springs Lake over the next few days are asked to exercise due vigilance and report anything that may assist in this search to the Tishomingo County Sheriffs Office, the Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks, or to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
