At our regular business meeting tonight members voted to combine volunteer fire, EMS, search and rescue (SAR), and community emergency response team (CERT) volunteer activities into one organization to be known as the St. Paul Island Volunteer Fire and Rescue. At the meeting next month we will be voting on a new logo for the organization and appointing officers for the new divisions. Thanks to all the volunteers that attend the meeting tonight. Some parts of the meeting involved heated discussion but in the end we worked towards common ground and understanding to become more organized so that we came improve emergency response for our community.
