At the Board Meeting this week, the following Fire Dept. report - TopicsExpress

At the Board Meeting this week, the following Fire Dept. report was given: Chief Burnside reported that CFD responded to 1005 calls so far this year. Most recent responses included 53 Medical calls, 11 vehicle accidents, one of which required three separate jaws of life to extricate a rollover victim. This is important because it highlights a decision made by the board a couple of years ago to invest in multiple sets of the Jaws of Life. At one point, they had one set for the city. It was for situations just like this that the investment in additional equipment contributed to the rescue of a victim. As it was, it took over an hour to extricate the victim. Chief Burnside informed the Board that 27 potential firefighters candidates were invited to take their physical agility exams. Of the 27 sent letters, 8 showed and 5 passed the exam. The 5 that passed were invited to continue the application process by taking their written exams. Unfortunately, all 5 failed their exam. CFD participated in the National CPR Challenge on 5-21 at Kroger. 166 residents received chest compression only training. During this months emergency siren test, the siren by the MC campus was defective. Repairs are underway and essential parts have been ordered.
