At the July 2, 2013 regular Council meeting Council gave final reading to the Traffic Bylaw 2013-12. Changes in the bylaw refer to section 4.12 Unattached Trailers/Recreational Vehicles. Section 4.12 reads as follows: 4.12 Unattached Trailers/Recreational Vehicles a) No person shall park any trailer upon any highway unless the said trailer is attached to a vehicle by which it may be propelled or drawn, and when so attached the trailer shall be deemed part of the vehicle and subject to the regulations pertaining to vehicles unless otherwise authorized by order of the Chief Administrative Officer or their designate. b) No person shall park a trailer or recreational vehicle on a highway in Crossfield i. Except in the area of the highway immediately adjoining the owner or operator’s place of residence; and ii. For more than forty-eight (48) consecutive hours following which the owner or operator shall move the trailer/recreational vehicle to an off-highway location for a period of not less than forty-eight (48) consecutive hours before the trailer may be parked again in the same area of the highway immediately adjoining the owner’s or operator’s place or residence for the allowed period of time stated in this section. c) A trailer/recreational vehicle that is parked in the front yard including attachments (hitches, bike carriers, etc): i. Must be parked on a front driveway (concrete, asphalt, or gravel) parallel to the sides of the driveway and perpendicular to the street. ii. Shall not exceed onto the sidewalk, pathway curb or highway, iii. Shall not extend past the owner’s property line where no sidewalk, pathway or curb exists. d) No person shall park a trailer/recreational vehicle on any highway in the Town in such a manner as to constitute a hazard to other persons using the highway. e) No person shall park a trailer/recreational vehicle so as to obstruct access to or exit from a highway, from a driveway or adjacent highway. f) No person shall occupy or suffer or permit any other person to occupy a mobile unit upon a highway or upon public property unless such property has been designated for use as a mobile unit park or trailer court. g) No person shall leave a vehicle unattended on a highway if the vehicle has been placed on a jack or similar device; and h) One of more of the wheels have been removed from the vehicle or i) Part of the vehicle is raised. Please be aware of the new changes in the Traffic Bylaw as Bylaw Enforcement will be out enforcing the new changes.
