At the UN General Assembly a draft resolution on the Crimean issue. Moscow. March 25. Draft UN General Assembly resolution declaring invalid the recent referendum on the reunification of the Crimea with Russia , circulated at the headquarters of the World Organization. Ukraine was the author of the project , sponsored by Costa Rica , Botswana , Qatar , Canada and Poland. Vote on the bill is scheduled for the UN General Assembly on March 27. Diplomats at the UN headquarters reported that the new draft that was circulated among 193 countries of the UN , said that the referendum can not serve as a basis for any change in the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. If approved by the General Assemblys resolution would not be binding. Earlier, Russia vetoed the UN Security Council resolution declaring the plebiscite in the Crimea unenforceable. The draft resolution of the General Assembly , in which Russia is not mentioned specifically , said the radio station , said that the Assembly calls upon all States, international organizations and specialized agencies not to recognize any changes in the status of Crimea and Sevastopol. In the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the United Nations suggested that the resolution will score at least 130 votes. The Ukrainian side need to engage in active lobbying to garner broad support as a document that implicitly condemns one of the most influential world powers - Russia.
