At the end of each day we count the “new things” God did for Abby in her healing process and pray for more new things the following day. It’s amazing to see Abby’s face light up whenever she recalls the events of her day and is able to name so many of God’s blessings. With assistance from a walker and support from her therapists helping her move her legs, Abby took over 300 steps this past week! This was a huge milestone and we know its just the beginning for her. While taking each step, her therapists once again ask her if she wants to take a break and the answer is always an emphatic “No!” Deb and I are so often astounded by her will and determination. When we first arrived at the rehab center we were warned by several doctors that Abby may be prone to periods of depression or anxiety resulting from the injury in her brain. We’ve been praying against this ever since and are so happy God has spared Abby both of these. The joy we see her filled with each day is nothing short of miraculous - her positive attitude and sense of humor are infectious and a constant reminder of Gods grace on our family. On Thursday, Abby will return to the hospital for two very important tests. The first is a swallow test to determine whether she can move forward with eating regular food. The second will be a catscan of her brain to check the status of any remaining blood and swelling before conducting more detailed testing later this month. Please pray that both of these tests show nothing but Gods perfect healing! Abby also continues to struggle with constant double vision and weak vocal chords preventing her from speaking beyond a quiet whisper. Please pray for clarity and healing in both her eyes and voice and that God will give both of these back to Abby soon! Thank you all for staying with Abby and our family on this journey.
