At the risk of being slated insensitive, I find this whole Marikana Massacre tagline a little misplaced. The strikers were armed to the teeth, had already killed some security guard with pangas, had consulted with a Witch Doctor to make them impervious to Police Bullets and charged the officers who had warned them to stop? For a little perspective on the matter... Lets just say, hypothetically and in an alternate universe, that the Muthi from the Sangoma worked? What were they going to do to the officers when they reached them? Tickle them into submission with their pangas? Now, I am in no way condoning the death toll and sorry for the lives lost, I believe it couldve been handled a lot better, agreed, although those strikers werent exactly holding a peaceful protest either. It was a very unfortunate incident, but they arrived with pangas before the Police arrived with guns.
