At the risk of stirring the pot at this late (or early if youre seeing this post with your morning coffee) hour, can we all remove the masks we put on or have imposed on us because of society?! Fact of life: were all insecure (and imperfect) human beings! We all worry about things and feel insecure or inadequate at times, yet we feel the need to hide our inevitable humanness from the world in order to be likable (or lovable in some instances). Shouldnt the fact that we are all in the same boat be a comforting fact that encourages us to show our true colours?! People seem to place unfair expectations on one another when it comes to this. If you expect someone to accept you for who you are, for all your strengths and weaknesses, your confidence and your insecurity, you should at least be willing to accept even the possibility that the people you interact with are just as imperfect and insecure as you. It always seems so silly that were encouraged to put on such masks, to hide our inevitable humanness from the world when the world in turn and the rest of the people in it are just as imperfect and insecure. Can we instead extend compassion to our fellow human beings for struggling with the same issues of insecurity as us? Is that possible? Were all in this together! Just that very thought should warm ones heart that we all are with each other and can totally sympathize...
