At the risk of upsetting some or all of my FB friends but, having lived through 2 labour governments in my lifetime, the first PM, Jim Callaghan, brought this country to its knees by uncontrolled spending, with mountains of rubbish uncollected in the streets and the power being turned off 4 times a week, ( doing my school homework by candle light ) and having to go to the IMF ( European Bank ) for loans to pay union leaders to get the striking workforce back to work. The 2nd new labour government, under Tony Blair, inherited a recovered a booming economy from the conservative government, and in their 2 terms of government again bankrupted this country, ( I know there was a global banking collapse ) but through outdated policies and inept decisions of spending money ( our tax contributions ) our country was again on its knees. My prayer is that the upcoming next general election sees a continuation of the present government and a long and stable, controlled recovery that we are all enjoying now. Sorry its a bit of a rant, which is something I dont do, but I have served and love this country, and passionately want GREAT BRITAIN so be truly GREAT again.
