At the young age of 47, I discovered the world of mapping through Google Map Maker and organized Mindanaos first MapUp with the SOX Bloggers - Mindanaos Funnest in December 2009. In March 2011, Orman and I attended the Google Geo-Users Summit in Singapore and spoke about our Mapping Community. In April 2012, GenSan hosted the Mindanao Map Maker Summit, with 150 mappers. In December 2012, the Google Map Maker Summit in Hyderabad, India invited me to share our mapUp stories. At 51, I was appointed Google Business Group - General Santos Manager in March 2013. A few months after, I and Orman travelled to Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the Google Search Summit 2013. In November 2013, GenSan hosted GDayX Mindanao, with 300+ attendees. That same day, Google Educator Group - Sarangani was born. In February 2014, GBG GenSan was ranked #1 in SEA and #2 in the World, and afforded STAR GBG Status. On June 23, Google will conduct the Star GBG Chapters Meetup at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California for top ranking GBG Chapters. On June 25-26, the much-awaited annual gathering Google I/O in Moscone West, San Francisco welcomes Team GBG Philippines composed of 3 PInoys.
