At their best, the Islamic theoreticians can provide only a description of a fair society and nothing more. The theoretical hope of Islam with regard to the establishment of a capitalist system has never materialized. Even though Islamic scholars have made further efforts to create more comprehensive theories, they have succeeded only in the discovery of a party: “the Islamic party.” Not only has the Islamic party failed to gain any form of historic recognition, but at its best it has also managed to direct the social understanding of the public into disarray. When a criterion fails to win true historic recognition and when such a criterion fails on behalf of well-informed and knowledgeable circles of society to gain a status of trust, it resorts for its justification instead to force and other forms of anti-social mechanism. What has repeatedly crossed my mind is this: If such a theory claims to have at its heart man’s interests, why has it in our society instead claimed human lives as its victims to an astonishing magnitude? Furthermore, why has the Islamic regime in dealing with its own citizens applied such inhumane measures? Have we indeed ever paid attention towards the countless victims of Islamic states?
