At todays Council meeting I moved the following motion: That the East Cork Municipal District agree to a relaxation of pay parking on Youghal Main Street allowing for a two hour free parking window from 24th November to December 24th inclusive to encourage footfall and to support local business during the Christmas shopping season. I am awaiting a response from management but I am hopeful that as a result of my motion that there will be two hours free parking daily from December 8th to December 19th inclusive and that there will be free parking all day from December 20th to 24th. It is vital that we encourage shoppers onto Youghal Main Street particularly during the upcoming Christmas season. I believe that this measure will provide a welcome boost to local traders and business as well as creating a more vibrant atmosphere on Youghal Main Street for the Christmas season.
