At war with a besetting sin or moral weakness? Facing a trial of faith that has you staggering with fear? The following verse may be the key to your survival, maybe even to victory. By wise counsel you will make your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety. ~ Proverbs 24:6 Each of us has his own battles to fight--his own personal war. Notice that the verse says you will wage your own war. This tells us that no one else can do it for us; we are responsible to fight and overcome in the trials of life. In many cases, we are able to triumph in these battles by using our own faith, grit, and personal determination. However, there are some battles we will not win if we refuse to ask for help from those who would be our counselors. If we would only ask them, their prayers and wise counsel will empower us when we are weak, encourage us when we are strong, assure us when we are right, and correct us when we are wrong. Indeed, there is safety to be had in the multitude of counselors. Beloved, your multitude may be no more than two or three close friends who will encourage you toward ultimate victory over what threatens to take you down or out. Perhaps your counselor is a trusted pastor, a professional counselor, or a faithful family member. You are blessed if you have several to draw from. Whoever they are, you need them; so dont keep them in the dark concerning your personal war; call on them while there is time. Selah
