Attached is a private email I had received from Mr. Volker Thomssen on our proposal for LIFE, a German/Canadian scientist and an environmentalist and the current President of World Alternate energy association. Wanted to share with you all... Dear Rial, Your overall presentation of LIFE is truly getting a convincing form and indicate that there is an emphasis on preparing the young people of Bangladesh for rewarding careers in all areas of an evolving expansion. Bangladesh can become one of the new powerhouses of the world where applied learning and academic learning is well balanced. This readiness for a new form for innovative industrialization with hands-on and intellectual capabilities to cover the hole spectrum from basic task to most complex task will make the people of Bangladesh future leaders even in a global context. The focus on applied learning and on vocational training is present and refreshing. However human beings perception still focuses too much on pure academic skills because we somehow believe that this is the best way of development. Therefore we should talk a moment about how we can be a little more specific on the goals for vocational training. Or how can we best convert the combination of a broad based set of skills into sustainable prosperity that is not based so much on growth and resource exploitation but more on quality, lasting input in an environmental sound way. Only quality food will make sure of peoples health. Only clean quality systems of energy in general will allow a balanced environment etc. The exiting opportunities of our present time must teach us how to do things efficiently and environmentally friendly. No surprise that the LIFE will play the most important role because it is all about a positive or friendly learning that will enable moving forward in a equally balanced way that even in the long run will enable local prosperity that best can exist if integrated into a social market driven economy and not only by a fierce competition for resources and markets that are based on never-ending economical growth that ultimately is stolen from others at he cost of the environment. I believe your presentation of LIFE is ready to be launched and the refinement will happen as we gain insight and get input from the society as a whole. Thank you for this great work that is a sound base for an ongoing improvement of life conditions for the people and the environment of Bangladesh. Look forward talking to you soon.
