Attend a Press Conference & help to send the message – All New Yorkers should be provided with the opportunity to vote independently and privately. Join representatives of the Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley and a coalition of other organizations for a press conference. Help to promote increased and equal access to the electoral process for all New Yorkers. WHEN: Tuesday, January 13th at noon WHERE: Empire State Plaza, Legislative Office Building (LOB), Room 130 in Albany WHAT: Attend the press conference to demonstrate the importance of accessible voting machines to maximize voter participation. Help elected officials understand that they should not continue extending the deadline for removal of inaccessible voting systems past December 2015. Encourage one unified Voting System throughout New York State. WHY: Although New York has made steps towards accomplishing increased and equal access, many barriers to full voter participation for individuals with disabilities persist. Help this coalition to raise awareness of the State Board of Elections, all election commissioners, and state and local elected officials to work to rid our election system of such barriers. The coalition could use your presence at the Press Conference to demonstrate the importance of this issue as it impacts people with disabilities. Questions?
