Attended Luke 4:18 yesterday morning...arrived a bit late, only parking places available were in back lot. As we were parking our car two gentlemen each on an eight seated golf carts, smiling in shirt and tie, approached as we were getting out of our car to ask if we wanted a ride to the front door of the church. I was first so surprised, that I didnt know what to say since the front door couldnt have been more than a hop, skip or jump away! I responded that the walk was good exercise yet I was grateful to them for asking all the same. One of the gentleman commented in a soft southern voice Arent you use to hospitality?. Must confess the question took me by surprise and tho I jokingly answered something concerning the NE.....I later reflected on his ? and answered honestly to myself no I guess I am not use to it. Yet I am beginning to recognize the simplicity and natural nuances Of hospitality in the folks I meet in Alabama and am very grateful to God for these meetings. For instance, at Publix grocery store, 3 people assisted us at checkout, 1 scanned the groceries, 1 bagged the groceries, and 1 very kind young man placed the bags in our cart, all the while we shared a wonderful conversation as tho we were old friends. Another occasion at a restaurant, the manager came over to ask if we enjoyed our meal and before long we were discussing everything from snow, sun, south, northeast and our faith in God. I guess I can say that I am enjoying this place and its welcoming personality.
