Attention Central Frontenac taxpayers!! The township is reviewing services and operations in an effort to find savings and efficiencies. One of the first recommendations to come forward is that we should consider reducing the size of council. Currently each councillor is paid $12,444 annually. The Mayor is paid $17,777. The Deputy Mayor is paid $13,626. Central Frontenac has 8 councillors (2 per district) and 1 mayor representing approximately 5,000 residents. Our council is significantly larger than most for our population. If we were to reduce council by 3 members the forecasted savings would be more than $300,00 over the next ten years. That is a lot of money! Council wants the public to weigh in on this very important issue so we are holding a Public Meeting on Tuesday September 10, 6:30 pm at Soldiers Memorial Hall.
