Attention Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls. Following is an important announcement on behalf of the committee members of the Noosa Trailblazers and Gravity MTB Clubs. You may need to sit down…and strap yourself in before reading on. We have recently been advised by Steve Dickson the Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing that our joint application for funding for more trail work in Wooroi, under the State Government’s Get Playing initiative, has been successful! This is huge. This is life changing for all MTB riders on the Sunshine Coast and probably even SEQ. Christmas, New Year and indeed all our collective birthdays have indeed come early. Its massive. Colossal! This grant is six times the size of our last grant. (At this point you may wish to explain to family members or work colleagues as to why you are currently screaming and running around with your shirt pulled over your head). Details of the proposed works will be confirmed in due course but I can reveal that the objective of the funding was to improve active participation in healthy activities such as MTBing and hence the focus of our application was on improving access and riding experiences for beginner and intermediate riders. The future of MTBing on the Sunny Coast is looking very very bright! Once again, on behalf of all us lucky riders, I would like to thank the awesome QPWS rangers for their support towards this application. 2015 is going to be a big year. Wooroirua here we come.
