August 2007 Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend were left in comas after being kicked and stamped on in a vicious attack because they were dressed as goths. Sophie died without regaining consciousness. The Sophie Lancaster Foundation was set up to get attacks on sub cultures listed as hate crimes and to promote education and acceptance of all sub cultures whether goths,punks emos,metalheads or whatever so people could live their lifestyle of choice without fear of atrtack or abuse.
