August 4 Isaiah 16 - 18 Topic: Critical Intercession Text: Numbers 14:11-20 There are various levels of intercession. There is what I call intercession. This type of prayer is offered when a critical issue is at stake. What do we do when we wish to intercede for a relative who has offended God? This is true of all of our loved ones who are not born again, because the Bible says if you are not on the side of God, and then you are against God. There are seven things you must note of when you wish to intercede for a loved one; You must talk of the goodness of God; Talk about the bad aspect of the person for whom you are interceding; Whenever you talk to God about the fellow, use the word, “your” and not “my”. For example, call him “your son” and not “my son”; Each time you intercede, remind God that His name is involved in what you are doing. Tell Him that if the person goes to hell, it will not give glory to His name; Tell God not to allow His enemies to rejoice; Do not exonerate yourself. Do not say you have tried your best to help the fellow. If the situation becomes critical, offer yourself in exchange for the person, if possible. God cannot turn deaf ears to the plea and entreaties of a concerned intercessor. When your heart is poured out on behalf of a needy soul God will respond with compassion. He will answer because of His unchanging nature and ever enduring mercy. God will also find it difficult to ignore the outpouring of your burden for a soul in crises. Pray until something happens. Memory Verse: Numbers 14:14 - “And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land; for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face and that thy cloud standeth over them.”
