Australia, as G20 president, has maintained a tight focus on economic issues: increasing employment, promoting trade and competition, investing in infrastructure and reforming global tax systems. All of these are designed to directly boost economic growth and create new jobs. The centrepiece of Australias agenda is the G20s commitment to boost economic growth by an additional 2% over five years. This is the first time the G20 has agreed to such a target. We are already about 90% of the way to reaching it and we hope that at the Leaders’ Summit we’ll reach, if not exceed, our goal.
