Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland Coastal Waters Wind Warning For Gladstone to Point Danger, including Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay, for Sunday. Issued at 10:35 am EST on Saturday 29 June 2013 Synoptic Situation A high [1033 hPa] over the Great Australian Bight extends a ridge across western Queensland. The high is expected to strengthen and move over South Australia during the weekend and early next week, reinforcing the ridge over the state. A surface trough lies off the southern Queensland coast and is expected to deepen during the weekend with a low pressure system expected to form within the trough late today or early Sunday. The low is expected to deepen and move southwards off the southern Queensland coast during Sunday and Monday with increasing winds and seas expected. Strong Wind Warning Gladstone to Burnett Heads Expect south to southwesterly winds to increase to 25 to 30 knots over offshore waters during Sunday morning. Seas increasing to 3 metres. Southeasterly swell 2 metres offshore. Strong Wind Warning Sandy Cape to Point Danger, including Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay Expect southeast to southwesterly winds to increase to 25 to 30 knots during Sunday morning. Seas increasing to 3 metres in open waters. Seas increasing to 1.5 metres in Moreton Bay. East to southeasterly swell 1.5 to 2.5 metres in open waters. The next warning will be issued by 5 pm EST. Please be aware Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.
