Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland FIRE WEATHER WARNING for the Channel Country, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Central West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, and parts of the North West district. Issued at 12:54pm EST on Tuesday the 24th of September 2013 for the remainder of today and Wednesday. A vigorous surface trough over southwest Queensland is expected to move eastwards across the southern interior during the day today. Hot, dry, fresh to strong and gusty winds ahead of and with the trough are expected to produce the following conditions for the remainder of today: Extreme Fire Danger in the Maranoa and Warrego district, eastern parts of the Channel Country district, and far western parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district. Temperatures to 41 degrees, relative humidity down to 5%, and winds to about 50 km/h are expected. Severe Fire Danger in remaining parts of the Channel Country district, most remaining parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district, as well as southern parts of the North West and Central West districts. Temperatures to 40 degrees, relative humidity down to 5% and winds to about 40 km/h are expected. On Wednesday the surface trough will stall across the interior of the state and gradually weaken. Hot, dry, windy conditions will persist across most southern and central interior districts, producing the following conditions tomorrow: Severe fire danger in the Maranoa and Warrego, Central West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, western parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, northern and eastern parts of the Channel Country, and southern parts of the North West district. Temperatures to 41 degrees, relative humidity down to 5%, and winds to 40 km/h are expected. The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Rural Fire Service Queensland advises that fires will be uncontrollable and fast-moving. The next warning will be issued by 11pm EST.
