Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Tasmania Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL NORTHERN RIVER BASINS Issued at 4:10 pm EST on Monday 16 September 2013 By the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart Flood Watch Advice continues for all northern river basins. An area of low pressure to the North of the state is expected to bring heavy rainfall overnight Monday and Tuesday. Rainfall totals in the range of 20 to 50mm are possible overnight Monday and during Tuesday across the north of the state, with heavier totals up to 70mm on the Great Western Tiers. Forecast rainfall is expected to cause significant stream and river rises overnight Monday and Tuesday. Minor flooding is possible in some rivers from Tuesday morning onwards and catchment specific warnings will be issued as required. Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard where river and stream levels are higher over the next few days. FloodSafe advice is available at ses.tas.gov.au Road closure information is available at police.tas.gov.au For emergency assistance call the SES on telephone number 132 500.
