Autism Awareness Month....this is very near and dear to my heart since my son was diagnosed at 2 1/2 with PDD which is a form of Autism. This is a disorder that affects many children but mainly boys for some reason. Early detection and early intervention is key, denial is not the answer. If you think someone u love has symptoms or u r unsure contact a physician and get them tested time is of the essence. Of course no one wants to be told their child is Autistic but there are ways to help your child and ur situation and most times the outcome. Educate yourself and get them all the services you can and dont give up hope. They doctors told me that Kahmal would never talk and we both would have to learn sign language, thank GOD I had a higher power that said other wise and I got a second opinion from the Miracle worker himself. I say all this to say that this is not a time to be embarrassed, scared, or in denial be proactive so you can get the child, family member the help they need and deserve to make their lives a little more comfortable. And everyone else if you know a child or person with Autism please show some compassion and patience. TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN ABOUT AUTISM, they didnt asked to be born this way this was the hand they were dealt. I still have a tough time dealing with this because it hurts but my boy loves me, he hugs and kisses me and talks to me thats all I can ask for. I LOVE MY SON.
