Awesome, I love when people are unintentionally displaying their racism. Native people do not need someone to tell us when we should be offended, or when we should be speaking up, we are perfectly capable of figuring this stuff out on our own. We dont mind support, we dont appreciate condescension. If you believe that someone like me needs someone to tell me anything, you are sorely mistaken. I dont mind dissenting opinions, I dont like when people ignore facts. Its pretty ridiculous when I am inundated with people arguing with me and assuming that I am some poor dumb indian from the res who just needs a bleeding heart old liberal to set me straight about history. I am not poor, I am not dumb and while I am from a rez, I have been known to read a book or two. Have I posted anything that would suggest I dont spend a serious amount of time studying and considering this stuff? do I post easy to refute arguments based on emotion rather than facts? Has anyone actually ever made solid arguments against my positions about indigenous rights? its almost amusing when these people write stuff like your positions on native rights are brilliant and concise, but you are wrong about Israel. or this little gem how can you support indigenous rights and write so eloquently and be against the palestinians? how stupid or absolutely brainwashed does someone need to be to acknowledge that I spend an immense amount of time studying and reading about indigenous peoples and our struggles and still think I would post something not factual about indigenous people? Hello? Mcfly? the Reason I spend so much time researching this stuff is because I want airtight arguments, I learned early on when arguing with asshats, you dont use semantics, you establish your baseline argument and then you reinforce it. the past 2 days Ive been seeing false allies who pretend to give a crap about my people, but when confronted about their bigotry, suddenly I go from being a pretty good guy to being a government agent and colonialist apologist. nothing quite like being accused of being colonised , especially when the accuser is a colonist lmao.
