Awesome fun today. Gonna rip out the rest of the shitty old insulation that became home to rats/squirrels. Its a modular so the whole underside is done with a "insulation blanket". Two big arse pieces of black plastic worthlessly hold up a huge blanket of insulation which is sagging everywhere to the underside of the floor joices. I am pretty sure I am going to encapsulate the crawl space instead of putting fiberglass type insulation into the floor. Think I am going to hang all the plastic on the walls and floors, then foam board the crawlspace walls and leave the floor joices alone. I also have to repair all the duct work under the house as well as run a few vents to the soon to be sealed off crawlspace. From what I read the air in the crawl space has to become conditioned either by a air conditioner/heater or by a fan pushing air from inside the house to down below. Does anyone see a problem with this plan of attack, or have suggestions in another direction I would love to hear it... I am a construction noob.
