Awhhhhhhhh! It is sooooo nice to be in a REAL harbor that is well protected from the rolling sea swells that were constantly coming into our “roadstead” harbors wide open to the sea! We are in English Harbor, Antiqua, and you will see from the pics that it is very protected and right next to Falmouth Harbor – also protected. Where we are anchored, we look at picturesque neatly-kept houses all up the hill from Galleon Beach here in the harbor as well as beautiful lush green and flowered plants – just as you would picture a holiday at the “seaside”! We checked in and found the garbage, laundry, and dock bakery! Most important places as well as many pubs and restaurants hidden here and there amongst the old English stone buildings – all very quaint and clean. Last night we went to the ever traditional Sunday Night Shirley Heights Lookout “Party” which is way at the top of the hill in front of our anchorage and you “lookout” over both English and Falmouth harbors as well as can see far in the distance Montserrat Island and the big rock called Redonda – breathtaking views from the restaurant grounds which is in an old English stone building and very open to the grounds where they set up a steel band playing and picnic tables (although not enough) and rolling hllls where you sat and ate a delicious bar-b-q chicken, pork, or cheeseburger with potatoe salad and fresh green vegetable salad. There were two bars and vendors selling souvenirs because many many people at all the surrounding resorts come to this Sunday Party Event! We met a cute young couple – thus the pic with our buddy boat friends, Dan and Lorraine. Later in the evening they had a regular band that played everything from reggae to whatever – very good too! I bet there were at least 50 taxi/vans up on that hill waiting to take the resort tourists back! We couldn’t believe what a “happening” event this was and we experienced it – just read about it in our guide book but didn’t realize how BIG A DEAL it was! Great Fun! Today Ralph got a new strainer for the engine – old one leaking – not good. I went to the bank and then walked about ¾ mile to the small supermarket at Falmouth Harbor. Had lunch at The Admiral’s Inn and then back to boat where Ralph checked batteries to make sure they were all good – yes! Picked up my laundry – luxury – had it done for me! - Awesome! Tomorrow we are heading for Deshaies, Guadeloupe – 40 miles away so we are starting at 6 a.m. – should take us 11 hours! We’ll see. Another harbor open to the sea so back to rolling at night ☹ Love to my dear sweet granddaughter, Laila Ann – SUPER NICE PERSON!
