Ayan Rand books carry the theory of Objectivism with them. Ayan Rand a strong op-poser of socialism and communism has written a lot on Individualism and self ego. Anthem is a small novel through which she tries to explain the Importance of I. I am a strong believer of socialism and believe that capitalism cannot solve the problems of inequality and discrimination. But I also understand that somewhere along the line in the process of implementation, socialism was not as successful as it should be. Reasons may be many but Individualism is also important to sustain a self respected society. Again practically for a theory to be successful it has to be implemented with the right perspective. Anthem shows the life of a man whom the writer names as Equality in a socialistic society who has nothing as self and always refers himself as We. He understands the flaws of his society and leaves to live with his companion called Liberty. They both discover the power of I and create a new world of their own. Though the flaws of a socialistic society were well criticized what I still doubt is how can a society based on I and only I can be an idealistic one? Well I agree theoretically with both these theories but practically still doubt what can be the best?????? A great book for powerful thinking and a debate. Such books open our views to different aspects of life and thought process and I welcome these for healthy discussions.
