Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged (1957) Big Government taking control of every thing is coming to pass! Ayn Rand believed that the founding fathers meant exactly what they wrote in the Declaration of Independence, human beings are to be free to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, even to the point of giving to others as they saw fit, not as the government saw fit. Ayn Rand noted the Governments increasing hunger to take from Peter and give to Paul; not as Peter felt he was able, but as the government demanded; stipulating exactly how much each individual was to give, the end result being an entire world weighted under the heavy press of government welfare programs which robbed the working class of so much of their incomes that they too became poor; all of this done under the guise of looking out for the welfare of all people. Ayn Rand warned that if the American people didnt stand up and turn the trend of this government regulation and control around, poverty would be the life of every American. Ayn Rand saw Atlas carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders now beginning to “shrug” or quake, stagger under the weight of the demands of so many for so little left to give. In the article above, the government has decided the rains even from Gods heaven belong to the people not the individual; so much for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happines aynrand.org/
