B.A.S. Administrators, Parents, Community Members, and Students As indicated in my post Saturday morning, I believe we need change...I believe we need to heal as a team...I believe we must come to the end of ourselves to truly know what we are capable of and to learn to trust our team mates. Inspiration comes in many forms...inspiration from words or the written page quickly dies...inspiration from action...is lasting. A young man who truly believes in himself and in his team mates is empowered...it is that fire and that passion that we must find...only then will we become the new breed of Viking football. I wanted to personally extend invitation to all of you to come and observe our next practice session. Ive coined it...BLACK MONDAY. I intend to push these young men harder than theyve likely ever been pushed, I intend to test them physically and mentally. It is always darkest before the dawn. It is my belief that through this crucible of sorts, we will find a strength we never knew we had, that a bond will be forged between them that cannot be broken, and that in turn...they will begin to transform potential into reality. First...we have to dare to dream...and then...we must believe. There may be some who choose not to continue, some who choose to give up, some who choose not to reach their potential...Not every story has a happy ending. Ive never believed in the Everyone is a winner philosophy. The Marine Corps believes that every Marine should live his or her life by a simple code...Honor, Courage, and Commitment. These varsity football players are in their own way, young warriors...and should likewise strive to live out that code in all aspects of their life...athletics, scholastics , community, family, country, and faith. Why do I want you there? Simple...1.) These lads NEED to see their community and their school standing behind them, people lined up down the fence just to watch them train. There is no substitute for the pride and self worth that is built by such support...2.) I want EVERYONE to see what happens...I believe something truly special is just around the bend. Black Monday will birth the new breed of Viking Football! I hear stories of the old days of Viking football...I see the pride that still swells in people when they talk about it...it will be that way once more...be there to see it happen...years from now be able to retell the story...of the day you witnessed Viking Football forever changed! Be able to say...I WAS THERE!
