BACK TO THE (Karen) VILLAGE THIS WEEKEND: FINAL HOORAA! Im preparing for this weekends trip to an ethnic Karen village where I will interview two Karen men (both in their 90s) who were the first to emigrate to this village area (covered in my Indigenous Voices book). A big thank you goes to Kirsten Elise Gallagher whose $30 donation to the Global Village Hands Culture Preservation Project (jeffsjournalism/global-village-hands/) will fund a good portion of expenses for travel and the Karen-Thai translator. Thank you, Kirsten! So this will be the final major section which I will add to Indigenous Voices: Glimpses into the Margins of Modern Development before its finalization. Still, interviewing these men will be a real privilege, indeed, as it is a chance to preserve their knowledge, their voices, while they are still here to share with us...
