BARDSTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT 212 NELSON COUNTY PLAZA BARDSTOWN, KY. 40004 CHIEF RICK McCUBBIN 502-348-6811 PRESS RELEASE TYPE OF OFFENSE Receiving stolen property and burglary 2nd degree LOCATION: 104 Kenton Drive INVESTIGATING OFFICERS: Derek Sidebottom SUSPECT: Michael A. Cotton (27) Bardstown, Ky. On November 18 at approximately 5:22 am Bardstown Police were dispatched to a residence on Kenton Drive regarding a reported theft. The victim reported that someone had broken into his storage shed overnight and had stolen some equipment. Officers located foot prints in the snow and then began tracking the suspect. Officers followed the tracks to 1281 S. Rogan Drive where they located Michael Cotton sleeping inside a white Mitsubishi vehicle that was covered with a tarp. Officers located items outside of the vehicle they believed may be stolen. Officers also located the stolen air compressor that the victim had reported stolen. Officers questioned Michael Cotton about the items and he confessed to taking the items from the victims storage shed and also had been involved in other thefts in the area. The vehicle and items were seized. Michael Cotton was arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail and charged with receiving stolen property over $500 and burglary 2nd degree.
