**BARGAINING UPDATE** My Colleagues, After several bargaining sessions, we have finally gotten a proposal from the District regarding salary and benefits. Unfortunately, there is a significant gap between our idea of a fair settlement and the Board’s. The Board’s offer is not only grossly below what we expect, but it is also significantly less than what we KNOW they can afford. The UTSC leadership and I recognize that many members are frustrated with the delay in resolving bargaining. Our goal is not to settle quickly; it is to get the best settlement that we can for our members. Several districts have recently settled and that information substantially bolsters our position. What Can You Do? We need you to attend the upcoming Board meeting this Thursday, October 10th to convey our frustration and disappointment with the lack of progress in bargaining. The Board is scheduled to go into closed session at precisely 5:30 p.m. this Thursday. ALL we are asking you to do is to be at the District Office Board Room this Thursday at 5:15 p.m. and stay until 5:45 or so. I will be speaking to the Board before they go into closed session. Anyone may submit a form to speak as well, but we are not requesting that you do that. We will have signs for you to hold as I speak, and we simply want everyone to respectfully stand in the Board Room with your signs while I speak to the Board to express our collective frustration and disappointment.
