BAYELSA SCHOLARSHIP BROUHAHA DEVILS ADVOCACY: QUESTION: What if Governor Seriake Dickson says because of the sharp drop in financial accruals, the scholarship scheme is cancelled, will the heavens fall? They should be grateful that Governor Seriake Dickson is shouldering the burden of the immediate past administration. If there is a delay in the Payment of stipends, it does not mean it will not be paid. Some of those students were sent there by Mr. Timipre Sylva and Governor Seriake Dickson Scholarship is given to scholars. Some of the features of scholars are perseverance, discipline and knowing the facts on ground. Recently, two months stipends have been remitted. When students graduate and come back and Government hosts them, you do not report. Governor Seriake Dickson’s intention should not be misconstrued. His intention is to vigorously pursue human capital development, recognizing the disadvantaged position of the State in education. Governor Seriake Means well for the State. With the volume of oil produced diminishing by the day, only this month Bayelsa had a short fall of N1.7billion from the Federation Account. Governor Dickson is a dogged fighter and in a matter of time, we shall overcome these transient challenges. Governor Seriake Dickson is doing what other administrations did not do. Scholarship is a privilege and not a right. Are the students not concerned that allocations to the State is reducing? Idumange John 23/08/2014
