BBC host and comedian Graham Norton is due to visit the Institute of Technology, Tralee on Thursday for the presentation of an award which has been named after him by the college. The TV presenter and Corkman will present the first Graham Norton Creativity Award. It will be awarded annually to students of Creative Media and Computing who generate the most on-line hits for a project they created during their academic year. The newly established Graham Norton Creativity Award is to be presented to the students responsible for the creation of one of the big YouTube sensations of 2013. ‘Pulp Fiction Kerry Shtyle’, a parody of one of the best-known scenes in the movie, Pulp Fiction, was filmed by ITT students Eoin O’Leary and David Williams. The pair use strong Kerry accents while dubbing the conversation of Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta. The clip featured on The Graham Norton Show on BBC television last January and also won the plaudits of top Hollywood director, Quentin Tarantino, who was on Norton’s show on the night. The ITT decided to invite Graham Norton to Tralee to present the award and he agreed. Head of the Department of Creative Media and Computing at the IT Tralee, Mary Lucey, said there is huge excitement about the celebrity visit. Graham Norton is due at the North Campus of the ITT on Thursday at 2.30pm.
