BE ACCEPTABLE. “And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek...” (Exodus 17: 9). When the Amalekites rose against Israel, Moses commanded Joshua to choose men who would fight back and defeat the enemy. The men who were about to be chosen would later accomplish something for their nation. The word ‘choose’ as used in that scripture, is derived from the Hebrew word ‘bachar’. One of the meanings of ‘bachar’ is acceptable. So Joshua chose men who were acceptable. Not every man in Israel was chosen; only acceptable men were chosen. So, some people were not chosen because they were unacceptable to Joshua. Friend, glean some wisdom: strive to be acceptable to men. Strive to be exceptional and above board in your dealings with men; make efforts to live in a manner that is acceptable in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of men; let the work of your hands be without blemish; give no one a reason to speak evil or negatively about your conduct and attitude. Do away with everything that is reasonably unacceptable to people around you; do away with arrogance, pride, mediocrity, anger, impatience, incompetence, inconsistency, ineffectiveness, lateness, bitterness, malice, gossip, etc. Do away with everything that puts you in bad light in the eyes of men; discard every attitude that dims your light or dulls your sparkle. If Joshua considered some men unacceptable, and therefore unworthy to be part of a national army, then be sure that if your life is not acceptable, some people may reject you from being part of successes and opportunities you should be part of. Don’t disqualify yourself by your conduct; strive to be acceptable to men; strive to do what is right. PERSONAL STUDY: ROMANS 14 Pray With Me: Lord, help me to live a life that is above board and reasonably acceptable to men, in Jesus’ name! Have A Fabulous Friday.
