BEAD BITE Technology from Spank Industries....on the Oozy Trail295 Bead Bite Rim and Factory Wheelset! Bead Bite rims have 6 rows of 0.2mm ridges which run along the vertical and horizontal faces of the bead seat on either side. These tiny teeth create 12 air seals between the rim and tire as the bead conforms into them under air pressure. Furthermore, they dramatically increase frictional forces on the tire bead, reducing the beads ability to move vertically or horizontally (thus improving stability and reducing burps). The bead literally becomes trapped between the vertical and horizontal ridges, even at very low air pressures. In testing here we have found that when you inflate the tire (usually we suggest to go up to about 40-50psi when first setting the tire, then reduce to the desired level) it audibly snaps into its seat and becomes locked in place. Then, when deflating the tire, even with no air pressure, you often have to actually click the bead out of the bead seats by hand before you can remove it! We have tested to ridiculous levels, even below 20psi, in tubeless set ups, without burps, tire rollover, or tire blow off!
