BEAUTIFUL SONG This is one song that makes me wish I could play the piano and had a great singing voice (like that of Spanish singer Vicente Segui) so I could be a member of the superb ROLP Choir. During the communion at the 7:30 pm mass (for which I was a lector) earlier, the choir sang "Huwag Kang Mangamba" yet again, and, as usual, I was carried away. Much as I tried, I could not focus on my prayer as I was kneeling on the pew after I lined up to receive the host from the guest priest. Instead, I was reading the song’s beautiful and powerful lyrics that were being projected on the screen on the right side of the church. So, as in several instances in the past, I just surrendered myself to this song completely. I just resumed asking for God’s forgiveness (which, I guess, should include my tendency to be easily distracted) when the song was finished and even as the priest was wrapping up the mass with the concluding rites. God bless the composer Reverend Father Manoling Francisco, SJ. What beautiful lyrics and melody! This masterpiece of yours inspires me to give songwriting a try...again. To the members of the ROLP Choir, I hope this will be a part of your repertoire every Sunday. To your member who sang this solo, tell her I said congrats! Beautiful heartfelt singing as always.
