BEHIND THE SCENES: got a call from a single mom, 21 years old, sobbing, just after 8am. the father isnt in the picture; her friends and family have abandoned her. she doesnt have a church, and any support she was hoping for isnt coming through. you could hear her infant daughter (born New Years Eve) making noise in the background. shes going to be evicted from her home soon, and has no support structure to help babysit when she goes back to work at Taco Bell. we prayed with her, but shes desperately in need of help, and was pretty much decided shed have to give her child up to the foster care system. as she cried, she told us that maybe after a few months she could take her baby back, but that it would probably be better if she was adopted, even though she didnt want to do that. on top of it, this was bringing up her past, as she remembered how her mom had abandoned her, took her back, abandoned her, over & over & over ... we spent a half hour on the phone with her, blew off a whole hour of the show (shows are less important than people anyway ... always. ALWAYS. our audience will forgive us.) talking and praying ... then we shared the situation with the listeners, asking for help ... the phone hasnt stopped ringing. were in tears. God is moving. if YOU know where she could get help, a babysitter, assistance, etc -- please post in the comments as we try to be the hands and feet of Christ for a young woman in crisis. -- Jeremiah & Sheryl.
