A support group for Alao-Akala’s political aspiration, Team Akala, said this in a press statement signed by its Board of Trustees chairman, Dr Kola Balogun, and coordinator, Prince Niran Adeyoju, in which they described the alleged plans of the party big wig to quit the PDP as a mere speculation. The group, however, said the speculation might be real if the perceived fraudulent manipulation of the result of the ward congress by the opposing camp, in connivance with some people at the National Secretariat, is successful. “Virtually all the political parties that exist in Oyo State want Alao-Akala to come and join them and this might not be unconnected to the fact that he has a formidable structure that can boost any party’s chances of winning election. Some prominent parties have even reserved the governorship slot for him,” it said. The team said further that “Otunba Alao-Akala is a charismatic leader who is loved by the people of the state who are clamouring for his return as governor of the state in 2015 to come and liberate them from the mercantile government of no-human-face being run by the current administration in the state.”
