BIG OUTRAGE IN SUB-CONTINENT COMMUNITY REGARDING RIVERSTONE STATE PARLIAMENT SEAT PRE SELECTION DEFEAT OF DR. MONINDER SINGH Today I happen to be in few Community gatherings including Sikh Temple. Riverstone pre selection defeat of Dr. Moninder Singh was talk of the town. People told me to share their feelings in social media. People seem to be very emotional and there were signs of deep anger against LABOR for Moninders defeat. Most people were of the view that sub continent community which is always being vote bank of LABOR should now vote for Liberal candidate RAMAN BHALLA from Blacktown. I tried my level best to defend LABOR party and explained the process of Pre-selection to community members but there were some questions raised by people which I could not answer. 1. Why Liberals are able to offer seat to Sub continent people even they have same process of rank and file membership ? People gave examples where Liberals have honored sub continent candidates with so many party tickets in Victoria and NSW. 2. People were saying that Sub continent community have proven record of unconditional support to LABOR and this was first time when some sub continent community member raised his hand for state seat. People think that This was the time when LABOR leadership should have reciprocated the love of community. 3. Major question asked by people is why elected members of federal and state seat did not put efforts to support Moninder . They were raising the point that Community played major role in win of GREENWAY federal seat for LABOR and they were expecting that elected member should have considered supporting Moninder . 4. People said that Elected members do have degree of relationship with rank and file members which they should have used to support Sub continent candidate. I argued that rank and file members are not under control of elected members but people made me dumb by saying that when our Federal Member and state member won their pre selection, they got support from these rank and file members and now why cant they use their relationship to support sub continent candidate. Labor leadership and present elected members should take serious note of this outrage and must address these issues on priority. I have apprehension that if timely action is not taken to save the existing sub continent vote bank, it could result in serious damage to LABOR in western Sydney especially in Blacktown seat where liberals have given ticket to sub continent candidate.
