BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND GOOD WILL RESOLUTIONS. It is true that - TopicsExpress

BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND GOOD WILL RESOLUTIONS. It is true that if you hide your talent and contributions under a bushel that people are not likely to know what example you are asking them to follow. The Bible says let your light shine forth. Or at least I saw this written on Cheryls and Shirmas Facebook pages. Some individuals had the audacity to attempt to malign my name because three years ago I agreed with the Board of the BSC to put the Black Studies Center Building up for sale. The persons questioned the legitimacy of my decision to agree even if I contributed to its operations financially. It has been shown that that is legal and managerial nonsense. But let me make this even clearer than I have already. I contributed over a $100 000 to the support of the BSC over the last 20 years. Not including volunteer and free research. My private financial records show that $52 000 of that amount was donated in the last six years. Of course, I am making sure that this is documented in my personal archives. I think that there can be no question that I have the right to decide when I cannot afford to continue that level of contributions. Or whether I should shift it to other community causes. There has been and continues to be some convoluted arguments and laughable suggestions made to the Board of the BSC as to how funds could be raised by importing the talents USA stars like Harry Belafonte, Spike Lee and other high life personalities to have paid fundraising events at the BSC. I will leave it to the intelligence of the public to draw their own conclusions about the merit of those suggestions. Meanwhile I strongly recommend those among us that can afford it, to contribute generously to your favourite charity and project. Do not be distracted by this noise. It is within your power to continue or not continue support if the management of that organization or charity decides to reconstruct how it wishes to fulfil its mission and mandate. Just something for you to think about for Black History Month and beyond. I know that I will continue supporting all my favourite charities notwithstanding these annoying absurdities of life. God Bless.
